David from the Troutfitter called the other day and said he was sick of answering questions about A-119's health. He suggested I do a medical update but to leave out the details.
A-119's medical report - I have basically been in a bed next to the john for the last eight days. I'm in no pain, am much weaker, have lost 10 lbs., was unable to eat solid foods until yesterday, and have had a fever about 2/3 degrees above normal until this morning when it broke.
Exercise - Believe me, its been no problem. I run about 30, five second dashes from the bed to the john daily and then cool off with a leisurely stroll back a minute or two later.
The fishing - Don't need to be told what I've missed, but I ask you, Would you put your brand new Simms waders on and wade out into the WB, if you were me?
Thanks to all for the get well wishes and the fishing updates. The reports help keep me connected.
Thanks for the update A-119. 8 days and 10 pounds is a lot. Hopefully your body fights this off soon, or it maybe worth getting your stool checked out by PCP. Sometimes just a bag of IV fluids breaks the cycle.
I’ve done some fishing, mostly evenings with success on apple Caddis and tan Caddis depending on where on the WB. Seems like we haven’t had any warm nights. Still stumped by some fish- maybe they’re eating small dark brown or black emergers. Still seeing Hendricksons but they’re getting smaller.
Had another question after listening to a recent orvis podcast talking about climate change. I think you have alluded to changes you have noticed in past posts- and there are the typical changes we probably all would assume- maybe earlier springs, hotter summers, more flooding, lower water times, etc. But few of us home the longevity you’ve had being present in the river system. Seems to me the reservoirs could moderate the effects of climate change but there’s a fat chance that’s gonna happen if they’re sitting at 100% all spring. Also different parts of earth experience changes differently- some more water/heat//winds, some less. Could the fishing season extend into March and October/November? Not meant to be a political comment, just something to ponder.
Get well soon!
Sounds like you are getting better after a tough bout – glad to hear. Drinking gatorade will replenish your depleted nutrients quickly so you can fight the big fish. I look forward to your future reports.
Glad for the update. Take care of yourself! the fish will still be there lol
Good to hear from you. Wishing you a quick and full recovery
A119 maybe it was those ferns you ate with the venison. One of the side effects is diarrhea.
Hope you get well soon !!!
Take care
A119
Glad you are on the mend.
Sounds like a nasty GI bug.
I know wader companies are making the zipper in the front now….maybe you have a new patentable idea for a zipper in the back waders?
Be well.
