If you are looking for a fishing report here, forgetaboutit. I'm in Lafayette trying to mop up the water in Jean's girl cave. We had a real downpour last night, our little Rainbow Creek was a raging torrent this am, the two little rivulets that I have diverted around the trout and bass ponds to avoid siltation both broke through their banks and poured water, gravel and debris into the ponds. The ponds are both the color of coffee with three creams and the Heron was down there trying to find dinner in the sea of mud. Wet carpet and pads are draped over everything in the cellar and garage.
The rivers in the Delaware System were hit but not as hard. DRC pointed to the Stilesville gage to assure fishermen that the river above Oquaga was low and clear. Failed to mention Cold Springs Brook and Butler Brook both of which are below the Stilesville gage and pour muddy water into the WB above Oquaga. It was a good day to stay home for sure. With Delaware County under a flood watch for tonight be sure to check water levels before heading for the river tomorrow. If you want to know what the WB looks like above Oquaga, just call Dave at the Troutfitter and he'll run out to the bridge to take a look for you.
Will hopefully be back on the river as soon as decent water conditions return.
I fished at stillesville today. The water was a little bit stained but the fish we’re eating on top. It wasn’t a great hatch but
there were bugs. I caught 2 and had 4 refusals. Big fish was a 19 in rainbow. I caught them on emerger and Dunn’s.
There were quite a few fisherman!!
I hope things dry out for you up there!!!!
I was there since Friday 119 , stayed down at the Dreamcatcher this time and things were good until last night’s downpour. Flows were up a tad this morning but kind of wade ok, water looked like my coffee. I’ve been following your blog and made some changes , landed a couple and got a half dozen refusals both Friday & Saturday evenings on spent wing olives #18/20’s, started after 8 both nights. No action mid day the whole trip but some Sulfers …but no rises. One minute my fly pattern worked and they next I couldn’t even get a look !
