A social engagement preempted Thursday's fishing. Would liked to have been there today as there was an all day drizzle here that kept me from crossing things off the to do list. Tomorrow Jean and I are driving down to take in the fall leaves that are now at near peak. Might possibly sneak in an hour of fishing somewhere but we will be having an early dinner so that we can watch our granddaughter's volleyball game. Will be driving back home Sunday morning for yet another social engagement in the evening. The coming week doesn't look much better as the eye doctor gets to dilate my pupils on Tuesday and quite possibly the loggers will be here by Wednesday. Will probably spend time up in a tree.
The fishing - I'm out of the loop. If anyone does good feel free to let us know. Congrats to Ed S. on his blind casting success. For those with keen ears the sound the trout make when engulfing a fly floating on the surface is a glup not a gulp which is what you do when chugging down a beer.
Just got back from a trip to the area. Fished cemetery pool on Tuesday afternoon and got a 1/3refusals, 1/3 angler error hooksets( I sometimes suffer from premature hooksets: if anyone can recommend medication let me know), and 1/3 fish to the net (4 total). The fish were pretty selective and needed the perfect fly and drift to chow down.
Wednesday was a float from Buckingham to Long Eddy. Hooked a few about half an hour into the float nymphing (20 inch brown to the net and a big rainbrow that bent the hook out of its mouth and broke off). Slow fishing for a while after that for a few hours but then at the end of the day from about 4 to 6 was in a pool that was as on fire and went 7 for 8 on rainbows from 15 to 18 inches on olives.
Thursday was Fireman’s on lower east to Buckinham float. Had fish to throw at on top most of the day and in between had some blind casting with ISO’s in riffs with some success. There was about a two hour lull in the bright sun in the middle of the day. Other than that stretch a good day of either caddis or BWO on top for a double digit day. A 19 inch bow that went to the backing was fish of the day.
Good luck to your granddaughter A-119!!!
I fished the BK on Thursday and got skunked!!!! I be been in the tree the last two days. Seeing a fair amt of deer. Will fish next week. I have to end on a positive note.
A119 enjoy the weekend!!!!!!!
