Bajio Sunglasses | New for 2022

Posted on March 28 2022

Bajío, maker of blue-light filtering, sustainable performance sunglasses built to save saltwater flats around the world, has just released its 2022 product line. Bajío is independently owned and manufactured in New Smyrna Beach, FL.  Check out their six new frame styles:

Caballo

Transition effortlessly from the flats to the fiesta in the Caballo. Though they appear as the life of the party, their outstanding optics and technical details are up for the challenge of ticking off the feistiest fish. Crafted with a durable bio-based nylon made to stand up to years of heavy use, this extra-large frame uses pliable and grippy contact points on the nose and temples to keep the glasses comfortably in place.

Roca

Sight-fishing requires laser focus on the slightest indication—that split-second opportunity when you’ll either set the hook or lament over the one that got away. With so much on the line, you need sunglasses that give you every available advantage. Something solid as a rock. Introducing Roca (rock in Spanish), a solid pair of performance shades indeed.Made with tough, bio-based nylon, this modern oversized frame protects eyes with complete coverage and vented side shields, reducing glare off the water and overall light intrusion without fogging up.

Paraiso

The word for paradise in Spanish, Paraiso was inspired by the anglers’ paradise of Ascension Bay, Mexico—where you fish for permit on the flat all day then kick back on the panga at sunset with a cocktail to witness tailing bonefish and flamingos flying in for the night. Land the big ones and look as great as you feel at day’s end in Paraiso.  A thoroughly modern look with an old school accent, these hip shades combine styling cues from a classic pair of specs with crystal-clear, optimized optics and sun protection from the interior sunshield.

Paila

A prized stop on our Odyssey expedition along the Yucatan Trail, Paila is named for the land of the super slam—where skilled anglers catch snook, tarpon, bonefish and permit—all in one day. A hidden gem of a place and a rarity in the world of fishing sunglasses, Paila looks the part of après fishing at the cantina, but is built tough and technical for big days reeling in records. Designed around Bajío’s color-enhancing, high definition, polarized lenses featuring blue light-blocking LAPIS™ technology—measurably reducing eye-fatigue and strain—this sturdy, bio-based nylon frame also helps diminish glare and protect eyes with an interior sunshield. All these elements come together for the super slam of shades to offer style, durability, protection, comfort and ultra-clear, fish-spotting vision

Chelem

Named for the striking white sand flat in Chetumal Bay where you can spot big permit heading straight for you (just before they snub you and turn the other way), Chelem looks good and fishes even better with hidden protection from the interior sunshield. This fashionable, fishable, medium-sized frame suits a variety of face types—guys and gals alike. Made from our bio-based nylon with an exceptional strength to weight ratio, Chelem sits lightly while soft and grippy concealed contact points on the nose and temples keep the glasses secure.

Cometa

Inspired by a comet-shaped lagoon full of tailing baby tarpon in Tabasco, Mexico, these shades offer cosmic good looks with the technical prowess to back them up on long days out on the water. With razor-sharp optics, a wider, glare-blocking frame and hidden sun protection from the interior sunshield, Cometa is more than meets the eye. As a sustainable company, carbon neutral from day one, Bajío produces some of the world’s best fishing sunglasses while making minimal impact on the planet. That’s why the medium-sized Cometa frame is engineered using a sturdy-yet-light bio-based nylon.
