Anglers on saltwater flats have a love/hate relationship with the wind.
Actually it’s mostly a hate relationship. If you’re not used to it, casting in the wind in a time-sensitive, accuracy-sensitive, sometimes-high-pressure format like flats fishing can be a pretty frustrating experience. It’s nothing a little practice can’t overcome, but that’s a topic we’ve covered before.
On the other hand, dead calm days aren’t ideal either. When there’s no wind the fish can get really spooky, and that’s no fun for anyone.
Josie Sands from Andros South tells us about it on video – we like a little wind.
